Let’s Share Our Own Tips on Saving…..

One of my favorite blogs, CouponingtoDisney, does a regular post where she shares readers’ tips on how to cut corners and save money around the house. I have gotten many tips from this post such as tearing your dryer sheets in half. Think about it, it will still make your load of laundry smell good, and your box lasts you twice as long!

This morning, a reader had posted a tip that I already do, so I decided to share with you and see what you all do to pinch pennies.  “Marie” shared that she uses the envelopes that come in bills to re-mail things. Many people jumped on her about the bar code that is on some of those envelopes and the possibility that it could get routed incorrectly. So, some replied to that saying that they put stickers over the bar codes.

But, my comment was that I use those envelopes to send lunch money, notes to teacher, permission slips, fundraiser money, etc to school. No chance of it getting routed incorrectly if it’s just going to school in a folder inside a backpack. Plus, I bet I sent well over a box of envelopes last year to Pre-K. So, that was a few dollars saved!

What do you do to re-purpose things around the house and in-turn, save a few dollars?

I have also used those envelopes to write my grocery list on. Then I can stick my coupons on the inside of the envelope and not worry about them getting lost/separated from my list.

We are trying to use less meat at dinner time. I make spaghetti sauce with 1/2 lb of ground beef instead of a whole pound like I used to. I stretch tacos with beans and rice instead of all that meat. Money saving and healthier too!

I also love the Couponing to Disney blog!

Instead of buying an expensive Diaper Genie I reuse grocery store bags as diaper disposal! I also use grocery store bags as liners for garbage cans.

I use the Sunday comic’s as wrapping paper.

I use old wipes containers as crayon boxes.
